The name Charoite comes from the Chara River.
Charoite was discovered in 1948 and was officially named only in 1977.
It is a rare mineral and occurs only in Russia, in eastern Siberia, in the area of the Muruńska Massif.
The color of charoite is not fully explained, it is usually between different shades of violet and lilac in shades of violet and amethyst. Mostly it shows the presence of irregular, colored spots of white, brown-orange, brown and black.
